Welcome to Abbeyfield Lear House, where compassionate care meets genuine companionship. Our dedicated team provides 24-hour support in a warm, welcoming environment where every resident is family.

Since opening our doors in 1963, Abbeyfield Lear House has been a cherished part of the West Kirby community. As a registered charity operating on a not-for-profit basis, every penny is reinvested into providing the highest quality care for our residents.
Our vision is simple: to enhance the quality of life for older people by creating communities that keep people connected. We follow the guiding principles established by our founder Richard Carr-Gomm, believing that everyone deserves companionship, dignity, and a true sense of home.
Nestled in leafy grounds within a quiet residential area, yet just moments from West Kirby's vibrant centre, our home offers the perfect balance of peaceful surroundings and convenient access to local amenities, shops, and transport links.
We provide a holistic approach to care, adapting to each resident's changing needs while promoting independence, dignity, and quality of life.
Our primary service offering round-the-clock personal care in a warm, homely environment. Our experienced care team is on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, ensuring residents receive support whenever needed.
Short-term stays for those recovering from illness or when regular carers need a break. Experience our community, meet our team, and enjoy all our facilities on a temporary basis with no long-term commitment.
Join us for the day and participate in our activities, enjoy chef-prepared meals, and socialise with our community. Day care provides stimulation, companionship, and professional support while maintaining independence.
Our home is dementia-friendly with refurbished rooms designed to create a relaxing ambience. We are audited against the Stirling University Dementia Audit Standard, recognised as world leaders in this field.
Specialised support for residents with physical disabilities, including wheelchair access throughout, lift and stairlift access to upper floors, and adapted facilities to ensure comfort and independence.
We provide tailored assistance for residents with visual or hearing impairments, ensuring everyone can participate fully in home life and maintain connections with loved ones.
Every aspect of Lear House has been thoughtfully designed to create a comfortable, safe, and stimulating environment where residents can truly feel at home.
Our bright, colourful dining room is where residents enjoy freshly prepared, home-cooked meals daily. Our chef creates nutritious, delicious dishes served in a welcoming, social atmosphere.
Our newly landscaped garden with patio area and garden room is a popular meeting place for residents and families, especially during warmer months. A peaceful oasis perfect for relaxation.
Multiple comfortable lounges including a large communal space with stunning West Kirby views, and quieter spaces for reading or intimate conversations with friends and family.
33 spacious single rooms across two floors, all refurbished to dementia-friendly standards. Residents are encouraged to personalise their space with their own furniture and belongings.
